Grandparents as Parents
The WCAAA funds programs that help grandparents raising grandchildren. With Older Americans Act and state matching funds, CT Legal Services provides legal advice as well as benefit assistance through public educational forums for seniors who are raising grandchildren. This program is for grandparents who are given custody of grandchildren have emergency needs for items such as beds, household items and winter clothing.
The Naugatuck YMCA operates "Time Out to Play" before and after school care and camperships for grandchildren of seniors. Grandparents can participate in the exercise programs. Education Connection also provides camperships and daily activities.
