Mission Statement

The mission of the Western Connecticut Area Agency on Aging, Inc., is to develop, manage and provide comprehensive services for seniors, caregivers and individuals with disabilities through person-centered planning in order to maintain their independence and quality of life.

About Us

Through designation as an Area Agency on Aging, the Western Connecticut Area Agency on Aging (WCAAA) is a funding source for services designed to maintain seniors' independence in the community. As a private, non-profit organization, WCAAA funding is derived from federal, state, and local sources, including client donations. The WCAAA is a resource for information and referral to services and, through research, serves as an strong advocate for older adults and those with disabilities in our 41-town region.

Our funded services include:

  • CHOICES and Senior Medicare Patrol (SMP)
  • Alzheimer Respite Care Program (statewide)
  • National Family Caregiver Support (NFCG)
  • Money Follows the Person (MFP)
  • Live Well
  • Resident Service Coordination Project
  • Connecticut Home Care Program (CHCP) (Waterbury residents only).

In addition to these programs, the WCAAA administers programs centered around congregate and home-delivered meals, legal and chore assistance, transportation, benefits and veterans outreach, senior center support, and health screenings (home based assessments frequently act as a gateway to our programs). As a member of the National Association of Area Agencies on Aging, the WCAAA is part of a national referral network focused on assisting seniors and caregivers.  Below is a list of our serviced towns:
