- Project Coordinator - Transportation Needs AssessmentJob Type: Part-TimeLocation: Danbury, Western CT RegionSalary: $30/hr
Description
The Western Connecticut Area Agency on Aging, Inc. (WCAAA) is seeking a Part-Time (15 hours/week) Project Coordinator to support the implementation of the Danbury Transportation Needs Assessment, a 12-month initiative focused on identifying transportation barriers impacting older adults, individuals with disabilities, caregivers, and other community members in Danbury.
The Project Coordinator will assist with project planning, community outreach, survey distribution, listening sessions, data collection, stakeholder communication, and reporting activities. This position will collaborate closely with WCAAA leadership, community partners, transportation providers, healthcare organizations, senior centers, housing sites, and local stakeholders.
The goal of this project is to develop a professional needs assessment report with practical recommendations to improve mobility, independence, healthcare access, and quality of life for Danbury residents.

Project Coordination & Administration
- Support implementation of the 12-month project work plan
- Coordinate meetings with staff, project partners, and stakeholders
- Maintain project records, outreach logs, schedules, and documentation
- Assist with tracking timelines, deliverables, and grant-related activities
- Help ensure alignment with approved project goals and budget
Community Outreach & Engagement
- Coordinate outreach to older adults, individuals with disabilities, caregivers, and community residents
- Work with senior centers, housing sites, healthcare providers, nonprofits, and community organizations to promote participation
- Support multilingual and accessible outreach efforts
- Assist with planning and facilitating approximately 4–6 listening sessions or focus groups
- Coordinate participant supports, accommodations, and follow-up communication
Survey & Data Collection
- Assist with development and distribution of community surveys
- Help achieve approximately 150–200 survey responses from diverse Danbury residents
- Coordinate collection of transportation-related information from partner agencies
- Document themes and feedback from listening sessions and stakeholder conversations
Reporting & Communication
- Organize survey results, demographic information, and community feedback
- Support development of transportation recommendations and findings
- Assist with drafting and formatting the final Transportation Needs Assessment Report and Executive Summary
- Help coordinate presentations and dissemination of project findings
- Prepare project summaries and materials to support future planning and grant opportunities
Requirements
Required Qualifications
- Associate’s degree required in human services, public health, social services, community development, nonprofit management, public administration, transportation planning, urban studies, or a related field
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in project coordination, community outreach, public health, aging services, disability services, nonprofit programs, transportation-related services, or a related field
- Strong organizational and communication skills
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and collaborate with diverse partners
- Ability to work respectfully and effectively with older adults, individuals with disabilities, caregivers, and multicultural communities
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, spreadsheets, online survey tools, and virtual meeting platforms
- Driver’s license and ability to travel locally within the Danbury/Western Connecticut area
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with surveys, focus groups, listening sessions, or community needs assessments
- Familiarity with transportation access issues, ADA accessibility, paratransit, or aging services
- Experience working with municipal agencies, transit providers, or nonprofit organizations
- Bilingual or multilingual skills strongly encouraged
- Familiarity with data analysis, GIS mapping, or data visualization tools is a plus
Compensation
- $30.00 per hour
- Approximately 15 hours per week for 52 weeks
- Total anticipated compensation: approximately $23,400 plus fringe benefits
