Formerly known as Food Stamps, SNAP is administered by State of Connecticut Department of Social Services (DSS) and provides monthly benefits through a credit card system (EBT) to help low-income households to buy the food they need for good health. The amount of money available to eligible persons depends on the number of people in the household, income, plus rent and utility expenses. You may apply to SNAP and other programs by visiting your local DSS Office.
