Anne Gioia brings over 28 years of professional experience working with older adults, most notably as a Social Worker for the State of Connecticut’s Department of Social Services. During her tenure, she worked within the Protective Services for the Elderly program as well as the Acquired Brain Injury (ABI) and Personal Care Assistance (PCA) Waiver Programs. A passionate advocate, Anne has spent her career championing the rights of older adults and individuals with disabilities. She strongly believes in the mission of the Western Connecticut Area Agency on Aging (WCAAA) and the critical support it provides to these communities. Anne is deeply involved in her local community. She has volunteered at New Opportunities for over 13 years, at the Kids Play Museum for 6 years, and recently began volunteering with United Way in Torrington. She also concluded over 20 years of service at the Warner Theatre. Anne remains an active member of the Torrington Senior Center, where she enjoys playing cards and spending time with fellow members. "I am proud to have advocated for the needs of older adults and persons with disabilities both through my professional work and now as a board member at WCAAA, an organization that dedicates itself to improving their lives.
