Biography

New to the WCAAA Board of Directors, Betty Bajek built a strong foundation in communication and relationship building as an elementary school teacher—skills that became the backbone of her subsequent 20-year career in the pharmaceutical industry. There, she led domestic and international teams, managed global training initiatives for complex projects, and collaborated with agency experts to support major scientific and commercial goals.

As a governance-experienced community leader, Betty brings a disciplined, mission-driven focus to board service, championing equity, access, and quality of life for older adults. She is the former Chair of the Greater Waterbury Transit District and an active AARP Connecticut volunteer who advocates for initiatives that allow older adults to live independently. In recognition of her outstanding contributions, she received the prestigious Andrus Award for Community Service in 2019.

From 2020 to 2025, Betty chaired the Greater Waterbury Transit District, collaborating with the Naugatuck Valley Council of Governments to expand regional mobility solutions and reduce social isolation across nine municipalities. She serves in appointed municipal roles on Prospect Boards and Commissions (including the Sidewalk Task Force) and volunteers with Chesprocott to advance public health goals and emergency preparedness across Cheshire, Prospect, and Wolcott.
