Board Chair, Western Connecticut Area Agency on Aging (WCAAA) Susan Coates has served as the Board Chair of the Western Connecticut Area Agency on Aging (WCAAA) since 2023. With a strong professional background as a Clinical Nurse Liaison for Masonicare at Danbury Hospital, she brings extensive experience in healthcare coordination, elder care, and transitional planning to her leadership role. In her position at Masonicare, Susan collaborated with hospital case managers throughout the Danbury and Waterbury regions to assess individuals for referral to Masonicare at Newtown and Masonicare Home Health & Hospice. Her role focused on facilitating safe and supportive transitions from hospital to home care, helping individuals receive the services they need to maintain independence and dignity-an effort that mirrors the mission of WCAAA to support older adults, individuals with disabilities, and their caregivers in living well and independently. Susan's community involvement further reflects her dedication to aging populations. She serves as a Director on the Board of Spruce Bank Farm in Woodbury, a local organization focused on housing and community support for seniors. She is also a member of the Woodbury Commission for Seniors, where she advocates for local initiatives that promote health, wellness, and access to essential services for the town's older residents. Through her professional and volunteer roles, Susan Coates exemplifies the values of compassion, community engagement, and person-centered care-making her an invaluable asset to WCAAA and the broader aging services network in Western Connecticut. "I am committed to building a strong, engaged Board of Directors at WCAAA and working in full partnership with our CEO to guide the agency forward - ensuring that we meet the evolving needs of the people we serve with vision, integrity, and impact." - S.C. |
